Volunteer with the Shrouk El-Attar Trust!

What we are looking for:

Enthusiastic individuals with a minimum of 2 (remote) hours a month to devote to initiatives such as social media management, digital security, media editing, organizational advancement, basic website building, community building, and more!

About us:

Since the beginning of their drag belly dancing performance, Dancing Queer, Shrouk has been donating part of her booking fee to ensure she can contribute to enhancing the safety of the LGBT+ community in her country of birth.

Now, this work has cumulated in the foundation of the Shrouk El-Attar Trust (SEAT). Proceeds from performances, lectures, merchandise sales, and donations are given to individuals who have requested help, fundraising initiatives, and local associations that give mental health and housing support, creating safe spaces for LGBT+ communities. Aid and empowerment are provided to people in Egypt and the surrounding region, as well as those in the community who live abroad.

To apply, please visit https://www.shro.uk/trust/volunteer by the 31st of December 2022.

Help us change the world!

In 2020, SEAT was founded to support the international LGBT+ Middle Eastern and North African communities. Many LGBT+ Arabs face a particular challenge, simply existing can often lead to imprisonment, and it is still common to be met with violence. SEAT provides content and direct aid in these communities. To date, we have been able to support safer housing, funding small businesses, and funds for gender-affirming surgery. But many urgent cases go unsupported because we lack access to unrestricted funds in time.

On a blue sky background, the Great Sphinx is surrounded by the SEAT logo, a progress pride flag, and black text which reads "emergency funds, keep SEAT going through 2023"

In front of a picture of the Great Sphynx, the SEAT logo and a Progress Pride flag top red, rounded test that reads “Christmas fundraiser”. Beneath it, white text with a red shadow reads “help vulnerable LGBT+ people in Egypt this winter”.

Raising funds for each case can mean that people are needlessly on the streets or in dangerous situations for more extended periods. In 2023, let's make sure this does not happen. By supporting our fundraiser, you have the power to be a part of someone's chosen family and help us have some unrestricted funds in 2023 to support urgent cases as quickly as we can.

Regardless of how big or small, your money will directly help LGBT+ people in Egypt and the MENA region. Thank you from everyone at SEAT <3 ️‍️‍⚧️✊
